Salt and Light to the World
From day 1 of the Pursuit of God, I have been amazed by the way in which God has revealed himself to me and given me the most amazing encounters in His presence.
On day 1, I had a primary school reunion planned and so after the evening service I went to meet my old primary school friends in a bar in Chelsea. Amazingly, prior to the evening service as I spent time in silence hearing from God, He also spoke to me about what I was to wear and I ended up changing my outfit (even though it was a lot more casual). So I arrived at the reunion at about 9:30pm, although it started at 8pm. Naturally, I was apprehensive about going as I used to be a serial club dancer and I didn't want to be drawn back into embracing secular music and falling back into old ways. I Praise GOD as I was totally unmoved by what I was hearing and just felt His peace in my heart. Now I was already thankful for that, but what was to come next could only have been divine orchestration.,
So I spotted my best friend from Secondary school in this bar (baring in mind that he moved from Chelsea and now lives in Wilsden) and I was ecstatic to see him. We hugged and reminisced a bit before he said to me "Temi (bro) what's happened to you, you're not dancing anymore, what's going on!!" I said to him "bro can I be honest with you?" Before I even said to him that I found God, without hesitation he said to me "You found God, didn't you" (I thank God, for undoubtedly His presence was upon me). He went unto say "I'm happy for you, but don't judge me, I don't believe in God and I've been taken by Satan." He started to tell me how he's messed up into drugs and other things. He also told me about how his mum has been diagnosed with a disease where her body is eating itself and she has been given 10 years to live.
After talking for little while longer, when it came to about 11pm I went to find him outside, where he was with his other friends and several girlfriends. I said to him "I'm going now but bro do you mind if I pray for you before I go." As I was about to start praying he said to me (in a strong tone) "wait bro let me take off my stuff" (he removed his chains and rings and cigarettes and all, I was astounded!!!). We then held hands in the middle of the street next to all of his friends and I started to pray for him. As we were praying, one of his girlfriends came over and started saying "I know you're praying and all that but have you got a lighter, I need a lighter, excuse me (and she continued on!!)." I continued to pray with him and when we finished he said to this girl in a stern voice "what are you doing? can you not see that we are praying? Temi (he) doesn't have a cigarette he doesn't smoke, go away." (I am convinced that the enemy wasn't happy and was trying to intervene in what is our most powerful weapon as a Christian - prayer). He then turned to me and said "bro if it was anyone else I would have started laughing, but because it was you I know it came from the heart." He hugged each other and then I left.
I thank God because even though my friend felt like there was no hope for him he still had such regard for what we were going to do in prayer that he took off his valuables and furthermore was even annoyed when someone was trying to interrupt. I know that God has sown the seed in his heart and I just pray that God will send people to him that will continue to water that seed.
Pastor, I pray that this testimony encourages yourself and others to be fully expectant that God will use us as salt and light in this world, through Christ Jesus.
God Bless and happy fasting.
