Spreading Christmas Cheer

Spreading Christmas Cheer is a week-long community outreach where we come together to spread the joy of the season. This year we will be keeping members of our community warm with a local initiative called ‘Spreading Christmas Cheer’.

Spreading Christmas Cheer is a once in a year phenomenon which takes place in the last full working week before Christmas.

Christmas represents a time of giving - when God gave His son to the world - and we serve members of our community in this way to demonstrate the loving and giving nature of Jesus Christ who is the reason for the Christmas season.

Most of the churches serve at the stations that are in close proximity to their local church. We also use the opportunity to mingle with commuters to discuss Christ and give out leaflets and tracts containing Christmas stories; it is not unusual for people to give their lives to Christ as a result. Just like our two major giving projects ‘Christmas Lunch on Jesus’ and ‘Operation Christmas Child,’ every year Spreading Christmas Cheer attracts volunteers from across the borough to give their time to make a difference to someone’s Christmas.

It is a time we look forward to as a church and every year it just keeps growing. Volunteers go out to the London underground stations on cold December mornings to hand out coffees, teas and mince pies to members of our community. Over 33 churches within and outside the borough of Barnet will come together to spread Christmas cheer from the Monday, 12th - Friday, 16th of December 2016. We will be at all the underground stations across Barnet, meeting commuters with a warm beverage, a snack and a comforting chat on a cold December morning.

We are inviting people to help out in these roles:

• Project support staff
• Assistant communication Coordinator
• Two Assistant stations managers
• Assistant Logistics coordinator
• Assistant Procurement coordinator
• Four Drivers
