Before You Say I Do

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24 NIV)

The LORD God Said, "It Is Not Good For The Man To Be Alone. I Will Make A Helper Suitable For Him." Genesis 2:18 (NIV)

Marriage is God’s idea, and it is important that we find out His intentions for it and His blueprint for making it work. A successful Christian marriage is a wonderful testimony of the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God created Marriage to mirror His image, for us to mutually complete each other and multiply a Godly legacy. We must not forget that marriage is spiritual and we have an adversary who is constantly working to oppose our marriages.

A Godly marriage is one where each person is making a daily choice to submit to God in their actions towards their spouse and every step in this direction is an investment in the marriage and a loss to the adversary.

Clearly, achieving success in marriage is not automatic. Statistics show that 1 in 3 marriages are now ending in divorce. In spite of this, there are thriving Christian marriages where Godly principles are at the heart of the relationships.

For those who are married; let us nurture and build our relationships with our spouses. This is critical to marriage success. For those of us who are single or dating; let us seek opportunities to learn how to enhance and enrich our knowledge in preparation for marriage.
